Building a Legacy Through Insurance and Resilience: Shreveport’s Own Jakeiyah Satcher

by Dee Dee Reese
Shreveport recently welcomed a new face of empowerment, service, and perseverance to its business landscape: Jakeiyah Satcher, the newly appointed Louisiana Market Sales Associate with Allstate Insurance. With her recent ribbon cutting at the Greater Chamber and a heart full of purpose, Satcher is already making waves by helping residents across the state meet their personal insurance needs.

Originally from out of DeRidder, LA., Jakeiyah moved to Shreveport 16 years ago, where she’s since made this city her second home. With a warm smile and a calm yet confident demeanor, she credits both her challenging beginnings and her deeply rooted faith for shaping the woman she is today.

“I come from very humble beginnings,” Satcher shared. “But I also had the love and encouragement to balance things out. That’s what pushed me to never give up.”

As a Louisiana Market Sales Associate for Allstate, Jakeiyah covers the entire state, specializing in personal lines insurance, including home, auto, jewelry, RVs, boats, ATVs, and more." Anything personal that needs protection, I help make sure it’s covered,” she said. “Whether it’s a mobile home or even a golf cart, if it’s important to you, we can likely insure it.”

Her role not only allows her to serve clients across Louisiana but also grants her flexibility to meet people where they are literally and figuratively. “I meet clients over the phone, after hours, even on weekends,” she said. “A lot of people work late or have full schedules, so I accommodate that. I love the flexibility and the work-life balance it gives me.”

Jakeiyah’s path to success wasn’t without obstacles. She initially entered the insurance field in 2018, starting in life insurance before expanding into personal property coverage in 2024. She credits her late grandfather for introducing her to the power of insurance and legacy building. “The biggest challenge was going back to study and get licensed again,” she said. “I had to buy my materials, manage my household, and carve out time to study with kids at home. But by the grace of God, I passed on the first try.”

Now a licensed property and life insurance agent, she has fully embraced her role with Allstate, determined to protect families the same way her grandfather once protected his. When asked what drives her daily, Jakeiyah doesn’t hesitate: “My children, my faith, and my purpose.”

A proud mother of her three youngest, just five months old, she wakes up each morning grounded in prayer and gratitude. Her daily routine involves calls, meetings, client follow-ups, social media outreach, homeschooling, and family time, all woven together with care and intention. “I stay motivated because I know what’s behind me and what’s ahead of me,” she said. “Seeing my kids' faces, knowing I’m providing is what keeps me going.”

To others seeking to step into entrepreneurship or the insurance field, Jakeiyah offers heartfelt advice: “Always move with respect, keep a good attitude, and never take things personally,” she said. “Sales is about numbers. Sometimes it’s just not the right time for people, but that doesn’t mean it’s a no forever.” Above all, she wants readers to remember: “It wasn't easy. But you can’t give up. Even in the darkest times, there’s a light at the end of the tunnel.”
